Starward Nov 2011

Greetings:

How is the Uranus-Pluto square affecting you all?  They’re still about 4˚ apart from one another, but close enough that you should be feeling the energy.

I think it’s going to bring all that unfinished business from the 60’s to the forefront!  Except the conjunction in the 60’s was in Virgo, which is a much gentler sign.  This time, the square is in Cardinal signs, which are far more combative.

Uranus in Aries has already shown the uprisings all over the world—some violent.  Here, in the US, we have the Wall Street protest, which has grown to a worldwide event.  Pluto in Capricorn is destroying the infrastructure of the “establishment” so the times will definitely be changing.  Those of us who lived in the 60’s, are able to relive those turbulent times.  So, just remember, buckle your safety belt and hold on for the ride, and know that you will be fine.

Don’t forget to check the cardinal houses in your natal charts to see where this change is going to personally affect you.

Next month, I’ll have an article on Ceres aspecting your natal planets.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and for you November birthdays, I hope your birthday brings you a memorable day, filled with love and laughter.

Ceres In the Signs

From www.CafeAstrology.com

CERES IN ARIES
nurtures others by granting them independence and showing them how to be independent, strong, and action-oriented.  Under stressful aspects, this combination can lead to a feeling of inadequacy or incompetence as a result of competition from a dominating parent or caretaker.  Ceres in Aries can be fiercely protective of loved ones, and at times may also describe the single parent.

Ceres is nurtured by action and physical activity.  What kind of action?  Any kind.  Aries isn't that particular as long as it's moving.  If you have this placement, you are less likely to nurture others by being cuddly.  More likely, you will take them on some strenuous activity.  If you have children with this placement, they may require fewer hugs and more mutual activities with you.

Means active harvest.  These natives can be called do-gooders because they are overly eager to be helpful.  There is a conflict between masculine drive and feminine gentleness, causing them to seem constantly busy.  They quite often tire before completing their planned projects.  Concerned with results, they may be termed 'goal-oriented'.

These people identify nurturance with autonomy and being granted independence.  In turn, the Ceres in Aries individual nurtures others through promoting their self-determination and self-sufficiency.  To feel truly loved, this person must receive these experiences from his or her significant others.  Pathology or imbalance can occur when the child feels either dominated by the nurturer or pushed toward autonomy before he or she is ready to take on this responsibility.

CERES IN TAURUS nurtures others by providing them with the basic necessities of life, especially the tangible resources that bring a sense of stability.   One’s inner mother feels secure when financial benefits are plentiful.   Under stressful aspects, Ceres here can feel overly dependent on possessions, or that one’s self-worth is based on how much one has.   Ceres in Taurus nurtures self and others through the sense of touch.

Want to nurture someone with this placement?  FEED THEM.   A lot.   These folks will also feel nurtured if you massage their shoulders and the back of their necks Hard, and for a long time.

Desires to grow living things.  These are people with beautiful, natural physical bodies who have no problems with sex.  There is a soothing grace of movement, making them pleasant to be around.  With strong fertility urges, these people sometimes grow herbs on their windowsills or have plots in the community gardens.  They may raise health gardens.  They may raise health foods for money.

These individuals receive nurturance through physical sustenance, a sense of stability, and being touched and held.  In turn, they can nurture others by fostering their physical security and providing for them in tangible ways.  Feelings of self-worth and acceptance are derived from learning how to provide materially for themselves.  Imbalance results when the individual over-identifies with substance, and feelings of material lack promote excessive hoarding of possessions.

CERES IN GEMINI may nurture others or feel nurtured through communication, education, and travel.   Talking things out makes one feel loved and accepted.   Under stress, this placement may lead to problems with duality, mental confusion, or an overemphasis on persuasion and intellectual superiority.   Ceres in Gemini nurtures others by sharing important information, and through visits that enhance points of view.

Let's talk.  Or write.  Any sort of communication will make a Ceres in Gemini person feel nurtured.  Gemini is also the sign of variety and short trips.  Travel and doing several little tasks at once are other things that will bring up that nurtured feeling when Ceres is in Gemini.

Gives a thoughtfulness concerning the life-sustaining acts.  These are people who talk about ecology and health foods.  They adhere to the theory of 'live and let live' so there is no aggression in this placement.

Natural teachers, they sometimes work with retarded children and youth.  They are quick to lend a helping hand to friend and neighbor alike.

These people receive nurturance through being educated, talked to, and listened to. These people nurture others mentally through communicating knowledge to them. Self-acceptance is based on feeling smart or intellectually competent. Imbalance occurs when feelings of mental inadequacy lead to learning difficulties or to attempts to intellectually impress or verbally manipulate others.

CERES IN CANCER is strongly paced, and feels deep emotional bonds with family members, especially with the mother and/or children. Ceres here expresses itself in a kind and caring way, and provides loved ones with both emotional and physical support. Under stressful aspects, this placement can lead to an overly sentimental or dependent relationship. Ceres in Cancer also nurtures other and self with food.

These people feel nurtured around the home. Hugs definitely can work here. So can housework. They want to be mothered and are good at mothering in turn. The negative side is they may get the "Cancer Crazies" when they feel a need for nurturing, the "Nobody loves me, nobody cares about me, and I'm going to die in the poorhouse" syndrome.  In that case, just tease them like crazy. It will shock them out of it.

Tends to care for people and animals efficiently. They may seem impersonal as mothers because of the blending of emotions and mental expression. They would prefer to train and teach rather than to cuddle and smother. This is a practical expression of domestic concerns that relieves the moodiness of Cancer.

These individuals receive nurturance through bonding with the mother, feeling loved, and being fed.  f these needs are met at an early age, these people will excel at caring for others physically and emotionally. Self-acceptance is based on one's ability to express feelings and master emotions. Imbalance occurs when the child is either deprived of nurturance or smothered with love and affection. Excessive neediness or emotional dependency are the resulting psychological afflictions.

CERES IN LEO feels nurtured and nurtures others by expressing personal talents, creativity, and independence. The parent with Ceres in Leo takes care of the child by encouraging a sense of self-confidence.  Under stressful aspects, this placement can lead to a feeling of inadequacy over one’s creations, or what one takes pride in.Ceres in Leo feels nurtured when personal efforts are appreciated.

Attention, respect, and admiration will make this one feel nurtured. Put on a show for their benefit. Better yet, make them a participant.  Leo's motto is "Nothing but the best." It may be expensive sometimes, but that will make Ceres in Leo feel nurtured. If you want to go via a cheaper route to satisfy someone with this placement, do something to make them the center of attention and admiration.

Gives a strong life support system with a natural creative energy. Both a love of and a respect for children and nature are found. There is also the ability to work creatively with the hands in such fields as gardening, weaving and pottery. Here are our life squad volunteers, PTA workers and ecology promoters.

These people identify nurturance with self-expression. Ideally, the parents will foster in the child a sense of pride, confidence in his /her ability, and an appreciation for the creative efforts of others. These people can nurture others by helping them to express their creativity ~ thereby making a unique impression upon the outer world. Self-acceptance is based upon one's ability to create and share something he /she takes pride in. The inability to do so may bring self-rejection and lack of self-confidence.

CERES IN VIRGO is strongly placed, and fosters a sense of service to others, a love of work, and a feeling of competence. This placement leads to excellence in craftsmanship, but under stress can bring a perfectionist attitude. Parents may be overly critical, or one’s inner parent may never be satisfied with the result. Work in the health services or food industry is common with this placement.

Put them to work, especially detailed work. Sometimes Ceres in Virgo people will try to nurture you by criticizing you. Don't let them get away with it.  However, they can also feel nurtured if you give them a highly detailed criticism. This is OK in moderation, but don't let yourself get carried away. If you are a parent with a Ceres in Virgo child, always give them work to do around the house ~ or even in your business!

Likes to nurse people. The nurturers of the world, they give of their own energies to revitalize and restore people who come into their sphere of contact. Being interested in nutrition, they care for the body properly. Here is growth without waste.

These people identify nurturance with perfection or with service. Ideally, the mothering experience can foster the child's sense of competence, discrimination, and self-discipline, which gives the ability to extend skills to others. Nurturing is expressed through teaching others to achieve excellence by right application of skills and talents. Feelings of self-worth arise through mastering a skill or technique and expressing it in the work world, or through feeling useful to others. Imbalance often results when the children are constantly criticized for their efforts, no matter how good they were. This can lead to an obsessive need to be perfect and to be critical of the imperfections of others.

CERES IN LIBRA nurtures self and others by developing a cooperative attitude and a sense of sharing. One nurtures self by developing meaningful relationships, and the caretaker with this placement shows how to excel in social interactions. Under stress, Ceres in Libra may place too much importance on being accepted by others, and forget self-development. Ceres in Libra loves fine dining.

These people are nurtured by beauty. And Libra, remember, is always impressed by the small, subtle things that show you care. Good manners and a tasteful, balanced appearance will work wonders here. They will also tend to nurture others in the same way, with small, tasteful touches.

Prefers to be fair and truthful in dealing with people at all times. They are reliable and dependable in relations with others, and like for all to share benefits equally. Here you will find people who are concerned with equal employment opportunities. They judge according to their own concepts of what is fair.

These individuals identify nurturing with co-operation. Ideally, the mothering experience fosters a sensitivity to others and a positive attitude toward relationships. Nurturing is expressed through imparting instructions on how to interact, co-operate, and exhibit right conduct in egalitarian relationships. Self-acceptance may be based upon one's demonstrated ability to create harmony in one's relationships and environment. Imbalances occur when one is so other-directed that he or she places being accepted above a need for self-determination.

CERES IN SCORPIO is an exceptionally powerful placement and nurtures others by imparting a sense of life’s most significant passages and the importance of deep family bonds. Ceres here nurtures others or self through total transformation, a process that involves emotional self-control. Under stress, personal relationships may be plagued by jealousy, possessiveness, or resentment.

Ceres in Scorpio may be a healer or facilitator.

Ceres in Scorpio people tend to feel nurtured through sex. They could also make their sexual partners feel nurtured. This is wonderful if you are dating them, but more of a problem if the person with this placement happens to be your child. Contact with anything deep, mysterious, or transforming will also bring up that nurtured feeling. Those with this placement would probably (assuming no severe afflictions to Ceres in their chart) feel nurtured if they visited Pompeii or some other archeological ruin.  Probably, Ceres in Scorpio would be a good placement for a doctor or health care professional because Scorpio rules healing and they could make their patients feel nurtured during the therapeutic process.

Ignores setbacks and defeats while continuing on toward their goals. There is regenerative power in times of ill health. Psychic ability may be present without training.

These natives identify nurturance with intense and deep emotional bonding. Ideally, the mothering experience was intimate and fostered a sense of emotional self-control. Nurturance is expressed through emotional commitments to others and through acting as a catalytic agent that transforms or heals them. Self-acceptance may be gained through transforming one's own inner negativity and lack of trust into the healing power of love.  Imbalance occurs when feelings of isolation are expressed as selfishness, jealousy, envy, anger and revenge.

CERES IN SAGITTARIUS nurtures others by showing them how to explore their environment and expand their horizons. One nurtures oneself and others by finding a sense of personal direction; one encourages an optimism that creates success, and how to enjoy life as a journey. Under stress, this Ceres placement can lead to the feeling that life is meaningless or that one has no moral compass.

Knowledge, wisdom, and adventure are the nurturers here. This placement can make you feel nurtured while on long journeys. If you are intellectually inclined, you could get that nurturing feeling through giving advice to people or by teaching or instructing them in some way. Reading about abstract philosophical topics could have the same effect. You can also make other people feel nurtured or inspired by giving them advice or instruction.

Enjoys mental speculation about various theories and ideas. A natural sense of freedom combined with genuine optimism may cause these natives to overextend themselves. In every case investigated so far, this placement has had periods of uncontrolled growth such as warts, tumors and cysts that were benign but had to be removed surgically.

These people identify nurturance with the freedom to explore and expand their horizons.  Ideally, the mothering experience encouraged and fostered these needs. Nurturing is expressed through teaching others how to expand their mental and physical horizons (e.g., the guru or spiritual teacher). In addition, the Ceres in Sagittarius individual may help others to develop a philosophy or belief system that gives meaning to his or her life. Self-acceptance may be based on the ability to find purpose in one's life and constantly move forward in consciousness. The failure to do so may lead to the belief that life is meaningless and purposeless ("a tale told by an idiot, signifying nothing" ~ Hamlet). Feelings of aimlessness that cause the person to wander without direction may result.

CERES IN CAPRICORN nurtures others by showing them how to succeed in life. With this placement one feels nurtured by a sense of achievement. This is the wise-mother placement, one who teaches others how to take responsibility for their own lives. Under stress it can lead to excessive dependence on position or status as a substitute for creating loving or caring relationships.

Feeling organized and in control makes this one feel nurtured. Since Saturn, which has the effect of reducing things, rules Capricorn, the early nurturing received was probably, well, wanting. Even if the family happened to be wealthy, the parents could have been cold, withdrawn, or believed in giving strict discipline to the children in order to keep them from being "spoiled." People with this placement will nurture you by making sure that everything is arranged and organized properly. Try to get them to lighten up a bit.

This is a blending of the maternal and paternal principles into a workable combination. Learning is a pleasurable experience for these natives, who are disciplined more effectively with rewards than with punishments. Because Ceres in this sign softens the soul's testing, the person is encouraged to continued effort by defeat. This is a good bridge for communication and teaching as well as natural leadership.

These individuals identify nurturance with achievement.  Ideally, the mothering experience taught the child how to be responsible, organize his / her time, and to carry out plans that would lead to the accomplishment of specific goals. Nurturing others takes the form of teaching them to be responsible for themselves, as well as giving them practical tools that they can use to succeed in the outer world. Self-acceptance is derived from tangible accomplishments that the individual attains through his or her own efforts. Imbalances occur when the person equates feeling loved with how well he or she performs in the world. This leads to the syndrome of using outer achievements to impress others in order to gain their recognition.

CERES IN AQUARIUS nurtures others by developing their sense of social justice and an acceptance of their own uniqueness.  One feels nurtured when accepted by the group, or when participating in causes, or in activities shared by people with similar goals.  Under stress, Ceres here may feel disconnected from others, or that one is socially inept. This placement fosters a sense of personal freedom.

If it's weird, someone with Ceres in Aquarius will be likely to find it nurturing. Being with friends would also be a nurturing experience, and the friends, in turn, will probably feel nurtured. However, the early nurturing received was most likely erratic. When mommy isn't there when the child is crying, the kid has to eventually cut off from the feelings of abandonment. Eventually, the child grows up, starts dating, and, when they really like somebody, up comes the feeling "I need you." That's when they get the great urge to run away. The negative side of Ceres in Aquarius is that it tends to have contact difficulties in intimate relationships.

Can humor other people into doing jobs for which they are best adapted. This placement brings tact and the ability to compromise, making them well liked by all.

These persons identify nurturing with individuality. Ideally, the mothering experience fostered self-determination and a recognition of the rights of others. Nurturing is expressed through teaching others to accept their eccentricities and themselves, even if they 'follow the beat of a different drummer'. Self-acceptance can be gained through following one's own original and unique path.  Imbalances may occur if the child was not given limits and guidelines, and therefore received more freedom than he or she was prepared to cope with. This would manifest as the 'rebel without a cause', the individual who needs to gain inner control and self-discipline so that he / she can handle the responsibilities of freedom.

CERES IN PISCES nurtures others by imparting a sense of connectivity to a larger whole.   One may feel nurtured by identifying with all of humanity, or some spiritual mission. Ceres in Pisces is extremely compassionate and concerned about the welfare of others. Under stress, this placement can lead to feelings of abandonment or helplessness. Ceres in Pisces is the lover of the universe.

Imagination and fantasy are the keywords here. Ceres in Pisces folks are nurtured by anything imaginative.  Being near the sea, hearing the sound of the surf, and smelling the salt air will also do the trick. When you are in a down mood and need someone to listen to your troubles, to lend an uncritical and sympathetic ear, find a person with Ceres in Pisces.

Tends to narrow philosophical and religious issues to the core of their meaning and then to apply these principles to their everyday lives. They distill the essence of information given to them. Intuition is used in a practical way, and all experiences are analyzed impersonally. This may esoterically be called the sorrow before the spring.

These people identify nurturing with compassion.  Such a person receives nurturance through feeling connected to and unified with a reality beyond him or herself.  Nurturance is expressed through alleviating the suffering of others – either through empathy or inspiring in them the qualities of faith, universal love, and recognition of a transcendental reality.  Self-acceptance may be based upon the ability to serve others selflessly without expecting anything in return.  Imbalances occur when the individual does not receive the proper reassurance and emotional support as a child.  This often leads to feelings of helplessness and powerlessness that in turn promote the victim-martyr syndrome.

NOVEMBER FULL MOON

Nov. 10, 2011; 3:17 PM EST

NOVEMBER SOLAR ECLIPSE

Nov. 25, 2011; 1:10 AM EST

TAURUS FULL MOON ~ NOVEMBER 10

BY;  Stephanie Austin

We have reached yet another crucial juncture, augmented by several factors:  A Full Moon in Taurus-Scorpio peaks on the eve of 11/11/11, a date of great numerological significance, and coincides with Ceres, Neptune, and Chiron ending their retrograde phases.  Humanity has arrived at a long-prophesied crossroads, a quantum splitting of the worlds ~ one world where we awaken to our divinity, the other where we remain in duality.  Do we choose the red pill, or the blue?  Do we return to unity, or remain in “The Matrix” of separation?  This full Moon thins the veils between those worlds, revealing where we are and where we are choosing to go.

In Taurus, we discover what really matters, what is worth our time, energy, and money.  In Scorpio, we learn to face and feel everything and realize that everything changes.  Taurus, an earth sign, is concerned with building a balanced relationship to the physical plane:  being in touch with our bodies and with Nature, possessing a healthy sense of self-worth, and sustainably supporting ourselves.  Scorpio, a water sign, dives into the alchemical cauldron of relationship, discovering the power of emotions, fear, and the unconscious and how to align our feelings with our actions.  Full Moons also highlight the shadow side of each sign as well as its spiritual tasks.  The dark side of Taurus can be materialistic, simplistic, and unwilling to change.  Scorpio’s dark side can be manipulative, obsessive, and unable to trust.

Just as each sign of the zodiac symbolizes a vital stage in an archetypal cycle of development, each number represents a fundamental frequency of creation.  Double-digit numbers, like 11, 22, 33, and 44, are known as “master numbers”, which relate to dimensions beyond the physical plane.  The number 1 is similar to the first sign of Aries in that it symbolizes the beginning of self-consciousness; the number 11 represents its higher octave, the emergence of enlightened or Christ consciousness.  Thus, 11/11/11 represents a spiritual initiation and gateway, offering extraordinary support for profoundly transformative meditations, group prayers, and mass awakenings. Three celestial bodies complete their yearly retrograde phases within a few days of this Full Moon, providing a cosmic green light to move forward.  While retrograde, Ceres guided us to deepen our inner listening and turn our compassionate, nurturing energies toward ourselves as well as others.  Ceres turns direct on November 6 at 16˚ Pisces, signaling a readiness to fully live what we learned since she stationed retrograde at 0˚39’ Aries on June 26.  On November 9, Neptune turns direct at 28˚08’ Aquarius, and the next day, November 10, Chiron turns direct at 0˚38’ Pisces.  The ending of their yearly retrogrades, which began on June at 0˚56’ Pisces and on June 8 at 5˚29’ Pisces, respectively, amplifies the celestial message to unite and collaborate on a larger scale than ever before.  This Full Moon aspects the ongoing square between Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Aries, intensifying drives for liberty, justice, and reform.  Mars, which signifies personal will and is the lower octave of Pluto, aspects the Uranus-Pluto square as well, forming first a quincunx to Uranus (exact on November 12 at 1˚ Virgo-Aries) and then a trine to Pluto (November 23 at 6˚ Virgo-Capricorn).  Mars also trines Jupiter (November 16 at 3˚ Virgo-Taurus), generating a grand earth trine throughout the second half of November, fueling optimism, inventiveness, and the drive to resolve long-standing issues.

The Sabian symbols for Full Moon indicate that we are indeed ready to go to the next level.  For the Moon at 19˚ Taurus:  “A new continent rising out of the ocean; the surge of new potentiality after the crisis.”  And for the Sun at 19˚ Scorpio:  “A parrot repeats the conversation he has overheard:  the capacity to transmit transcendental knowledge.”  Use the solar and galactic tailwinds of these extraordinary times to take a giant step forward on your path, and remember:  “The meaning of life is to find your gift, the purpose of life is to give it away.”  (Pablo Picasso)

SAGITTARIUS SOLAR ECLIPSE – NOVEMBER 24-25

By:  Stephanie Austin

Eclipses are extra-potent New Moons, signaling that we have come to the completion of a major life lesson and are ready to graduate to the next level.  They offer a major upgrade in consciousness, installing a larger hard drive and more memory if we are receptive to it.  During a solar eclipse, the Moon interrupts the current flow of cosmic radiation on Earth, reconfiguring the energetic templates of reality and facilitating the download of new codes and programs.  This New Moon is also the sixth and final Super-Moon of 2011, further altering the magnetosphere of the Earth, which in turn shifts our individual electromagnetic fields and awareness.  Ld pathways dissolve and new matrices emerge as Creation expands.

Not only are the Sun and Moon in Sagittarius, but the North Node, Mercury, and Venus as well, amplifying the call to raise our sights.  The Archer aims toward the sky, and the constellation itself points toward the center of the Milky Way galaxy, associating the ninth sign with the expansion of consciousness and the understanding of our place in the cosmos.  Where did we come from?  Why are we here?  And where are we going?  Sagittarius is represented by a centaur ~ half man and half horse, part mortal and part divine ~ symbolizing the inseparability of humanity and Nature, Heaven and Earth.  Chiron, also depicted as a centaur, is at 1˚ Pisces, squaring the Sun and Moon, as does Mats at 7˚ Virgo, constellating a mutable t-square that encourages us to be less competitive, more compassionate, and intently focused on the Big Picture.

November 24 is Thanksgiving Day in the United States, a holiday of appreciation for the blessings of life.  Gratitude opens the heart, and Venus, the mythic Goddess of Love and Beauty, increases our awareness and access to unconditional love as she transits close to the Galactic Center at 27˚ Sagittarius the day before this New Moon.  At the core of our Milky Way galaxy lies a super-massive Black Hole, known as Sagittarius A, which is a constant transmitter of infrared, X-ray, gamma, radio, and microwaves.  Venus aligning with the GC focalizes those transmissions, providing tremendous support for healing and opening our heart, which enables us to perceive our inherent divinity and inter-connectedness.  For a fascinating expoloration of a unified coherent model of the universe, featuring the groundbreaking work of physicist Nassim Haramein, watch the film THE BLACK WHOLE.

Mercury turns retrograde at 20˚ Sagittarius just hours before this New Moon solar eclipse forms, further encouraging us to enlarge our understanding of reality.  Mercury’s retrograde phase doubles his usual time in the ninth sign (from November 2, 2011 to January 7, 2012), revealing where we need to “think different” and let go of outdated beliefs.  The mythic Messenger of the Gods turns direct on December 13 at 4˚ Sagittarius and fully completes his retrograde cycle when he returns to 20˚ Sagittarius on December 31.  What we live by and what we live for may look very different by the end of 2011.  The Sabian symbol for this New Moon at 3˚ Sagittarius instructs us to carefully consider our moves and act with forethought:  “Two men playing chess: the transcendent ritualization of conflict.”

This powerful New Moon solar eclipse brings to light life-changing truths, frontiers, and possibilities.  It reminds us:  “The most remarkable feature of this historical moment on Earth is not that we are on the way to destroying the world ~ we’ve actually been on the way for quite a while.  It is that we are beginning to wake up, as from a millennia-long sleep, to a whole new relationship to our world, to ourselves and each other.”  (Joanna Macy)
